The Progress Project Arrives at FeeLit!

The Progress Project available at FeeLit

The Progress Project is a family owned and operated business that creates all types of bags and accessories from reclaimed advertising billboards and banners.
Since their inception, The Progress Project has been committed to finding creative and eco-friendly ways to re-use billboard vinyl material. By “Up-Cycling” this material they have kept thousands of pounds of material from ever reaching the landfill. Equally important, by re-using this vinyl for alternative applications –like messenger bags, surfboard bags, laptop sleeves, tote bags, and more – you can lower your carbon footprint and help the environment.
Re-using this material does the following:
•	Eliminates demand for new raw material
•	Eliminates huge amounts of energy necessary for manufacturing new product
•	Eliminates additional pollution and waste associated with new manufacturing
•	Eliminates additional transportation and harmful emissions
•	Keeps the material out of the landfills

What goes around, comes around… The Progress Project understands that fully. Banner and sign companies use materials that withstand the elements for outdoor use. These materials don’t break down like most. They are constructed to withstand fading from the sun, tearing, extreme hot and cold temperatures, and water. This means they will be sitting in our landfills for decades and possibly centuries. Why not reuse these materials and meet consumer needs without producing more waste? *BING!* The Progress Project was born. The Progress Project is committed to designing & manufacturing protective bags & accessories with primarily reclaimed and recycled materials to help keep Mother Earth green as long as we can. All recycled or new raw materials are sourced 100% from American manufacturers. All of the sub-contracted labor is done with American companies. Each product comes with a high-quality warranty against any defects. In addition, 5% of profits are donated to a variety of non profit organizations and charities. The Progress Project also sponsors individual students who exhibit exceptional morals & ethics, so that they may have the opportunity to realize their dream. The Project is all about PROGRESS.

What is the material made of?

It is a 3-ply material with Vinyl (PVC) on the outside layers and a denier polyester scrim (mesh) inside. This mesh gives it a little stretch under high wind conditions and stops any fraying or tearing. It also has a UV layer to protect it from the damaging rays of the sun. Our vinyl weighs 16 oz per sq. yd. Compared to most conventional vinyl that weigh 2.75 oz per sq. yd. Our material is 5 times heavier!
Is the material Water-proof?
The material is 100% water-proof, anti-mildew and flame retardant.
How long will it last?

It is designed to withstand extreme hot and cold weather. In addition to its 20 mil thickness, the UV protective layer gives it extra longevity. Harmful UV rays are the biggest factor is deteriorating outdoor material and the UV layer will guarantee many more years of life. If this once billboard was outside 365 days a year, it should easily last about 3-5 years.

Day of the dead skulls, national symbols, and even the bus you took that was way too old, never had an empty seat, are all key elements in our upbringing that we show in our designs.

Based in New York, Sedgwick & Cedar celebrates innovation and creativity across multiple cultures. Originally formed as a way to celebrate Hip Hop’s earliest roots, the company has branched out to capture the excitement and relentless creativity found in emerging genres of the 1970s, 1980s New York.

At the tail end of summer, on August 11, 1973, neighborhood kids crowded into a small rec room at 1520 Sedgwick Ave, in the Bronx, to hear DJ Kool Herc spin. Eventually it got too packed to move, and the party headed down the block to Cedar Park. On that epic night Hip Hop culture was born. The Sedgwick & Cedar brand celebrates this humble birthplace and creative spirit. We pay homage to the genre, culture and innovation of the movement through exclusive designs that deliver history in every stitch.

Sedgwick & Cedar gives back to the often overlooked founders of the movement by providing royalties from S&C proceeds. Pioneers behind the brand include such legends as DJ Kool Herc, Grandmaster Caz, Afrika Bambaataa, Grand Wizzard Theodore, Coke La Rock, Sha-Rock, Melle Mel and Chief Rocker Busy Bee.

All items are available through hand-selected boutiques. Each article is limited-edition and incorporates iconic photography and art from now-timeless images by Jamel Shabazz and Joe Conzo as well as pristine reproductions of some of the original party flyers.

Sedgwick & Cedar’s mission is to reintroduce the rich, positive and often forgotten history of Hip Hop culture to a modern global audience.
