ENTHEON: The Alex Grey Visionary Art Experience by CoSM

ENTHEON Kickstarter Project Funded

“For over 30 years, the art of Alex Grey has reached the hearts and minds of people all around the globe with its portrayals of the physical and subtle anatomy of individuals in the context of cosmic, biological and spiritual evolution.

From 2004 to 2010 the Chapel of Sacred Mirrors installation was on view in the heart of New York City and saw tens of thousands come from all walks of life to experience the transformational power of art. Since closing its doors, the paintings have been in storage and unavailable to the public. It’s time to bring the paintings back!

Our plan is to build a permanent exhibition space for these iconic works of art, along with works from other visionary artists. It will be a destination you can visit anytime of year to commune and contemplate with the art, now and for generations to come.”

That place is ENTHEON.

Entheon is already under construction at CoSM, a center for visionary arts and culture located in New York’s Hudson Valley. New technologies in 3D scanning, modeling and printing are being utilized to bring this unique architectural design to life.

Once inside, visitors take an immersive journey through a visionary art universe with meaning and intention in every detail. Featured at Entheon will be the art of Alex Grey, including the Sacred Mirrors series, plus over twenty-five of Alex’s best-loved works such as Theologue, Transfiguration and Net of Being.

Risks and challenges

“Many risks and challenges come with any construction project, especially when working with an unconventional design and new technologies. Man-hours required for completion are formidable.

Fortunately, we have been blessed with a remarkably talented and supportive team of advisors to help overcome obstacles as they arise. Our top quality team includes experts in ornamental glass fiber reinforced concrete who have restored the Metropolitan Museum of Art and Brooklyn Academy of Music, among other major buildings.

The Entheon team is broadening to include extraordinary specialists from the CoSM and Hudson Valley community. Members are actively invited to offer their specialized skills. General volunteers are needed to contribute many services and talents. Contact CoSM (volunteer@cosm.org) if you’re interested in getting involved.”

Flipping through the stacks, cleaning off the LP, placing the needle on the record, reading the lyrics, studying the artwork, and enjoying the rich analog sound. Sure, there are occasional pops & you might have to clean the record. You actually have to flip the record at the end of the side. It's not a play list or program on shuffle. You are present, involved, and engaged in the listening process.
Please Keep Vinyl Alive & Support Local Artists!"
