Everyone, everywhere has been abuzz about the release of Mushroom Jazz 7, the latest installment in Mark Farina’s signature compilation series. Since the first volume became an outta left-field hit back in 1997, Mushroom Jazz has set the standard for mixed comps, with a crossover audience encompassing far more than just the House scene.

It’s been almost 3 years since the last volume was released, and 15 years since the first installment of Mushroom Jazz graced, then flew off record shop shelves, instantly becoming a staple inclusion in every serious record collection. The amazing mixtapes blend instrumental hip hop, downtempo, trip-hop, jazz and a variety of other beautifully groove-laden tracks effortlessly throughout; something Mark’s able to do not only in the studio, but live in multiple rooms of a club on any given night. He really a man of many talents, and an absolute wizard behind the decks, no matter what style he’s laying down.

Shortly after Mark Farina befriended Derrick Carter in 1988 at a record store in Chicago, his passion for House music, and sharing it with the world, exploded. Mark experimented with a deeper style, dropping De La Soul, disco classics and other stuff that wasn’t being played in the main rooms of nightclubs. While exploring his love for the purist forms of House Music, Mark developed his trademark style: Mushroom Jazz; acid jazz infused with the West Coast’s jazzy, organic productions along with urban beats. Since then, Mark has been traveling the globe performing 100s of shows, to over one million club goers, a year. His House sets take fans on journeys to the jazzy side of Chicago House mixed San Fran style. Some of these sets have been known to last up to 8 hours. And sometimes you’ll find Mark playing in two different rooms at the same party, showcasing his range of rocking the big room sound to the uber-chill. URB, MUZIK and BPM Magazines have all had him on their Top DJ’s In The World lists.

Flipping through the stacks, cleaning off the LP, placing the needle on the record, reading the lyrics, studying the artwork, and enjoying the rich analog sound. Sure, there are occasional pops & you might have to clean the record. You actually have to flip the record at the end of the side. It's not a play list or program on shuffle. You are present, involved, and engaged in the listening process.
Please Keep Vinyl Alive & Support Local Artists!"
